Housing shaped by landscape, material and place.

SPÁS studio is an emerging architecture practice focused on contemporary housing in Ireland.

The work explores how people live today—and how dwellings can respond to landscape, climate and changing patterns of occupation.

Rather than approaching each project as a singular object, the studio develops housing through typology: creating clear, adaptable dwelling forms that can evolve across different sites and contexts.

Drawing from the material character of Ireland—stone, timber, clay and vegetation—the aim is to create architecture that feels grounded, enduring and connected to place.

Approach

Landscape

Every project begins with place. We study topography, climate, orientation and views to create dwellings that are rooted in the Irish landscape and shaped by their surroundings.

Material

Materials are selected for honesty, durability and character. Stone, timber, metal and lime-based finishes are used to create buildings that weather gracefully and gain richness over time.

Typology

We explore housing through typology—developing clear, adaptable dwelling forms that respond to contemporary patterns of living while remaining flexible for future change.
